The Black Unicorn Library’s Reading Room at Boom Concepts was soft launched in November of 2021. Featuring over 400 books written by Black women and Black gender expansive people, the lending library also features reference books and a solidarity collection. Community members are welcome to sign up and become a member of the library, enjoy books, zines, seeds, and connect with a beautiful reading community.

The Black Unicorn Library is a Black queer feminist community library and archive. Our mission is to cultivate libraries as sites of learning, possibility, and freedom. We work to expand definitions of literacy and to celebrate the literary and artistic contributions of Black women, queer, Trans, non-binary, and gender-expansive people by honoring the far-reaching influence our storytelling has had on the lives of generations worldwide. This collaboration is supported by the Arts Equity Reimagined fund. The Reading Room is located at BOOM Concepts 5139 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15224 and you can learn more about our work at www.theblackunicornlibrary.org
