National nonprofit Music to Life brings its Musician Changemaker Accelerator (MCA) to Pittsburgh in partnership with BOOM Concepts
The Musician Changemaker Accelerator workshop will provide hands-on training for Pittsburgh-based musicians to create and deliver sustainable, music-driven social change programs. The MCA Workshop takes place on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 8:30am-5:00pm at Emerald City (213 Smithfield St, Pittsburgh, PA 15222).
The MCA Workshop is a ‘deep-dive’ business-skill session where social change artists receive training in proposal development, identifying good-fit partners, and mobilizing community support. The MCA Workshop pairs artists with volunteer mentors for post-training technical assistance and program troubleshooting.
This full-day business incubator will engage up to 15 local musicians with ideas for building positive, music-driven, and sustainable community programs. Participating musicians receive a full package of benefits including a paid stipend, complimentary breakfast and lunch, and all Workshop training and materials (estimated total value of $1K). Applications are open until June 6th, and interested musicians are strongly encouraged to sign up using the link below or reach out to BOOM Concepts and Verónica Pérez-Picasso at progams@musictolife.org to learn more about the workshop.
There will also be a public community music showcase with select workshop participants happening Friday, June 20th at Community Forge, 1256 Franklin Ave, Wilkinsburg, PA 15221. The Open Mic Night is curated by Kinselland Radio, hosted by Strange K, and music led by Howie Alexander, and the event happens every third Friday of the month.
